Vintage Strawberry House
$65.00 $110.00Product Details
We think this is where Strawberry Shortcake retired to. This is a Strawberry House and we've adorned it with two golden mushrooms. No really, that's real gold. This is one of our smallest pieces, but still has quite a large chamber for it's size.
This design is part of our vintage mold series, where we take vintage molds from the 70's, 80's and 90's and repurpose the pieces to fit our modern canna needs. We will use the molds for their remaining lifespan, until we have to eventually retire them. We can't estimate when we will have to retire these designs, so we will enjoy them while we can!
Approximate dimensions:
Height : 3.25 inches
Width : 3.75 inches
Depth : 3 inches
The glaze:
This piece has a glossy finish, perfect for making the luster shine as well. The detail of golden mushrooms is a nice little surprise. Since this piece has luster, it went into the kiln for a third firing. We think it's worth it for this combo.
The interior of each of our smokeware pieces is glazed with a liner glaze. Liner glazes are great for their durability with hard use such as cleaning solutions, for example.
How do you clean a piece with luster?
Since our pieces are ceramic and therefore opaque, we recommend checking resin build up using a flashlight shining through the carb while looking into the mouth piece. For a quick clean, run hot water into the bowl and interior. Then, wipe down the bowl down with a paper towel to remove resin/ nasty bits.
For a deeper clean of luster pieces, you need to take special care not to soak the luster in alcohol. This will damage and possibly remove the gold luster from your piece, which would be very sad for everyone. While you can still use alcohol and salt on the interior and bowl we recommend making the following changes to your cleaning routine:
After a hot water rinse, pour some salt into the interior of the piece. Plug all the holes besides the mouth piece. Pour a few tablespoons of isopropyl alcohol into the mouth piece, then plug the mouth piece. Shake vigorously to agitate the salt and alcohol. Pour the dirty alcohol into the sink and rinse again with water. Repeat again until the alcohol pours clear. Use a paper towel soaked in isopropyl alcohol to wipe out the bowl.
If you prefer to soak your entire piece in alcohol, we suggest choosing a piece which doesn't have luster or a decal.
Like all of our work, each Strawberry House is handmade. We are humans, not machines so minor variations are part of the process. We have made every effort to accurately represent each piece in the photos, so please look carefully at the pictures before purchase.
